"Viral Nanoparticles: Tools for Application in Biomedicine"

Viral Nanoparticles by Dr. Nicole F. SteinmetzWednesday, March 24, 2010
3:00pm to 4:00pm

The use of nanomaterials has the potential to revolutionize materials science and medicine. Currently, a number of different nanoparticles are being investigated. Viral nanoparticles (VNPs) derived from plant viruses, such as the Cowpea mosaic virus and Potato virus X, can be regarded as naturally occurring nanomaterials.

About the NTC Educational Core

The NanoTumor Center Educational Core aims to promote education in the new field of cancer nanotechnology for cancer scientists, practitioners, professionals and community-at-large and in the field of cancer for engineers, chemists, and physicists who conduct research in nanotechnology.

A significant part of the NTC's Educational Core is to increase the awareness and understanding of nanotechnology and how it impacts medicine, especially oncology. This entails the development of general and CME-accredited webinars, industry-relevant seminars, educational material and videos, and outreach programs.
